Hope Ward Tennis Club Season 2023/24

You are invited to join Hope Ward Tennis Club for the coming summer season, and at our OPEN DAY at
the Club (Tweed Street, Cumberland Park) on

11.00 am to 1.30 pm

FREE SAUSAGE SIZZLE from 12:00 pm!

We look forward to seeing our existing members on Open Day together with any friends, family
and/or prospective new members who may be interested in playing for the 2022/23 season. Our
Club Coach, Heather ‘Heepsy’ Heeps will also be in attendance to organise some on court fun!

Team nominations are required to be lodged with the Association shortly, and we therefore need to
know your intentions as soon as possible so that we can nominate the required number of teams in the
appropriate divisions.

Season Information


HWTC fields teams across various levels in the Southern Districts Tennis Association Junior
competition. The competition comprises of teams in Yellow Ball (17 & Under as at 1/10/22 -
standard ball/format); Green Ball (12 & Under as at 31/3/23 - modified ball) and Orange Ball (10 &
Under as at 30/9/22 & 31/3/23 respectively - modified ‘Match Play’ competition). The competition
is predominantly conducted over 2 session times on Saturday mornings (8.30am & 10.45am), with
Premier League and Div. 1 being played on Friday nights at 6.30pm. The 8.30am session usually
consists of Boys’ Divs. 2-9 and Girls’ Divs. 2-5, with Boys Div. 10, Girls Div. 6, Green Ball and Orange
Ball in the 10.45am session. Please be aware that the session times for the lower Yellow Ball
divisions are subject to change depending on the number of divisions being fielded within the
Association, so the above session ‘split’ should only be used as a guide. The Orange Ball competition
is conducted as 2 separate ‘seasons’ – Term 4, 2022 and Term 1, 2023…please refer season dates
below. Orange Ball teams for Term 1, 2023 will therefore be organised in January.
Please note that HWTC is also a SA Gov. Sports Voucher provider. For more details and to check
if you are eligible please visit www.sportsvouchers.sa.gov.au. To claim your $100 discount, please
download and complete the Sports Voucher form (form also attached). The completed form can be
given to ‘Heepsy’ or emailed to Madeline - hopewardtc@gmail.com. On receipt of the rebate by
HWTC, we will contact you to organise transfer of the $100 to your bank account. We therefore
request that subs and/or coaching fees are paid up front. Should you have any queries in relation to

HWTC also fields teams across various levels in the Southern Districts Tennis Association Senior
Competition, in which matches are played on Saturday afternoons from 1.00pm. Most teams are
single sex teams of 4 players, and the format involves each player playing one 9 game set (tie break
at 8 all) of both doubles and singles. Matches are usually finished by around 4.00-4.30pm.
There is also a Mixed Doubles competition in which we are hoping to field at least one team (may
consist of up to 3 male and 3 female players), with a format of each player playing one 9 game set
(tie break at 8 all) of one mens/womens doubles and two mixed doubles.

Hot Shots @ Hope Ward

Hope Ward is a registered participant in the ANZ "Hot Shots" kids tennis program. This is an introductory tennis coaching program designed specifically for young children, using modified equipment and courts proportionate to the participants' size.
